Overview of Namo Buddha Tour

Namo Buddha Tour is another impressive and historically Buddhist pilgrimage site located 40 km southeast of Kathmandu Valley in the Kavre district. The highlight of the main stupa at the hilltop is the world heritage monuments of UNESCO, where visitors can enjoy the incredible views of mountains and green fields.

Namo Buddha means “Greetings to the Lord Buddha.” Buddhist mythology contains an interesting story about this place, depicted as a great symbol of human sacrifice at its highest level. According to Buddhist sutras, Lord Buddha was born Prince Lumbini in Nepal in his previous life. The youngest son of King Maharatha. He and his two elder brothers passed through the forest while hunting one day. They found a tigress with her cubs. She and her cubs could hardly move as they were weak from starvation.

Their pitiable situation scrutinized him. So, before he could reach his destination far away from the forest, Prince Mahasattva returned to the tiger and offered them his flesh and blood to save them.

Later, his two brothers returned to the same place, but they saw only his bones and hair. In his honor, the King and Queen buried a small casket covered with seven kinds of jewels in which they laid his bones and built a stupa over the place, which became very popular among the Buddhist and Hindu Pilgrims.

The whole area is covered with sacred flags on the top of a small hill. However, the Namo Buddha tour is beautiful, quiet, and pure.

The environment is clean with fresh, calm, and healthy natural air, which makes it the right place for meditation and practice. You can see the beautiful sunrise and sunset view from the hill. You can also visit the famous Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, where more than 250 monks reside today. Despite being close to the capital, this area still has a typical Nepali rural lifestyle.

The Namo Buddha tour starts at four with a jeep or bus that takes you through the valley. The roads run through rice fields and remote villages. It is off the beaten track. You can also trek from Banepa, passing through Panauti and Sankhu to Namo Buddha.

While returning, you can also visit the imposing statue of Shiva (43.5m high), considered the world’s most enormous Shiva statue. Feel free to contact us for more details.

It’s the best traveling season.

March to June and September to December are the best touring seasons in Namo Buddha. We are not providing vehicles during the Monsoon seasons because we cannot travel on the gravel road, and we are not suggesting you travel over either. Monsoon has heavy rainfalls and is too muddy along the route. It would help to be careful with a leash while traveling in Nomo Buddha during the monsoon season.

Vehicles are available at the Namo Buddha Tour.

Yes, Boundless Adventure provides any vehicle according to the size of the travel group for the Namo Buddha tour from Kathmandu. Please get in touch with me for cost details, Tour information, and Vehicle service.
