Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar Tour takes you to both extremely holiest of all holy places on this planet earth, especially for Hindu, Jain and Buddhist religions as well to Bon sect of pre-Buddhism.

Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar located Far South West of Tibet and North West of Nepal to reach within Tibetan country bounded by high Himalayan Mountains which falls south of Tibet / China and north of Nepal.

Where altitude gain and the symptoms of thin air can be acclimatized taking things slowly with overnights stops at certain heights to recover from high altitude sickness.

Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar tour start from Kathmandu (for some can join at Saga town after visiting Lhasa in Tibet) heading towards north close to Mt. Langtang, Mt.Manaslu and Mt.Ganesh Himal at Rasuwagaddi the frontier of Nepal to enter Tibet.

Where drive takes you on the high winding road to reach Rasuwa district and beyond north to reach Rasuwagaddi and Kyirong town and villages with time here for acclimatization and continue to drive to higher areas of vast Tibetan dry landscapes.

The journey takes you past Saga and Paryang towns through many farm villages crossing the high pass of Mayam-la 5,050 m to reach huge and holy Manasrover with views of Kailash in the north with Gurla-Mandata Mountains in the south direction.

At Manasrover enjoy scenic views of peaks and the large lake considered as most holy spot, where some can take a drive around the lakes of about four hours ride, staying here to worship and prayer as well dip or bathe in the holy waters of Manasarovar.

After a great spiritual moment at Manasrover Lake where a short drive takes you to busy town at Darchen located south of Mt. Kailash, the place is flooded with pilgrims during high seasons of Saga Dawa festival, with Indian, native Tibetans and some foreign visitors.

Starts holy walks known as parikrama for Hindu, Kora in Tibet and in general a circuit or circumambulation of sacred mountain Kailash heading around its all four sides beginning from North-West to reach the highest point and most holy place Dorma-la at 5,640 m.

Then downhill to Lamchu valley towards the east of Kailash past Zutul-Phuk to reach back southern end of Mt. Kailash on completing the holy circuit and then drive back to the border at Kyirong to enter in Nepal. Boundless Adventure sent you jeep/ Bus to Kyirong border to drive back to Kathmandu.

Short Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Tour around holy sites in Kathmandu of great interest.
Day 03:  From Kathmandu 1,350 m drive to Kyirong 1,896m - (165 km) - 07 hrs.
Day 04:  Drive to Saga 4,600 m - (265 kms) - 05 hrs.
Day 05:  Rest day for acclimatization and explore the town of Saga.    
Day 06:  From Saga drive to Lake Manasrover 4,505m - (420 km) - 06 hrs.
Day 07:  Free morning at Lake Manasrover to observe prayer and worship and
                 short drive to Darchen 4,660 m- (55 Kms) about an hour or more rides
Day 08:  Drive to Tarboche start walk to Diraphuk 4,900 m (18kms) - 06 hrs.
Day 09:  Trek to Zutulphuk (4,750m)- (20 kms) - 06 hrs.
Day 10:  End the walk and drive to New Dzongba 4,425 m-(315 km) -07 hrs.
Day 11:  Drive to Saga- (235 km) - 05 hrs.
Day 12:  Drive back to Kyirong - 05 hrs.
Day 13:  From Kyirong drive to Kathmandu - 06 hrs.         
Day 14:  Depart Kathmandu for international departure homeward bound.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
The fresh arrival to Kathmandu on reaching Nepal international airport received by our staff for short transfer in the hub of Kathmandu city, close around Thamel area, where all good hotels located within easy assist to your requirement for Kailash and Lake Manasarovar tour.
At the hotel after checking into your nice rooms meet on hotel lobby for group briefing on Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar Tour, with welcome dinner in nice Nepalese restaurants with cultural program as entertainment for the night.
 
Day 02: Tour around holy sites in Kathmandu of great interest.
The morning after breakfast tour starts around interesting places around the city of Kathmandu steeped with historical, cultural and religious monuments listed in world heritage sites.
Visit Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Old Durbar Square including ancient Stupa of Swayambhunath, rest of the day preparing for Kailash and Manasrover tour next early morning. 
 
Day 03:  From Kathmandu 1,350 m drive to Kyirong 1,896m - (165 km) - 07 hrs. 
Early morning start with a drive to Dhunche and then reach Syabrubesi, Dhunche headquarters town of Rasuwa district within Langtang Himalayan after Dhunche drive leads down to reach at Syabrubesi village the home of Tamang tribe people with views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal.
From Syabrubesi village drive continues on the new constructed road linking Nepal with Tibet via Rasuwa-Gadhi (1,800m / 15 km / 1 hr min from Syabrubesi), reaching the border, received by our Tibetan guide and drivers.
After completing passport formalities on both Nepal / Tibet sides, a short drive takes you into Tibet soil at Kyirong for a first overnight stop in Tibet, accommodation in local guest-house located close to Ganesh and Langtang Himal that borders Nepal and Tibet.
 
Day 04:  Drive to Saga 4,600 m - (265 kms) - 05 hrs. 
Enjoy first breakfast in Tibet and continue drive around vast Tibetan plateau crossing few high passes with views of high snow peaks, as drive leads on wide country witness sheep’s and yak grazing on huge pasture field.
Journey towards remote parts of Tibet then over a bridge of Brahmaputra River also called Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibetan, flows from very source of Mt. Kailash glacier.
Drive to reach Saga a moderate size town with nice lodges, hotels and restaurants, on arrival check into the best available hotels or guest houses.
Day 05:  Rest day for acclimatization and explore the town of Saga.
Rest day in Saga for acclimatization where one can explore the town and witness Tibetan culture and heritage traditional life.
 
Day 06:  From Saga drive to Lake Manasrover 4,505m - (420 kms) - 06 hrs. 
From Saga town morning drive lead into dry country, after few hours with climb over high 4,900 m pass, and down-hill towards vast flat field facing views of snow capped peaks in the south direction towards Nepal.
After little hour scenic drive heading past Paryang and towards Mt. Kailash area reaching vast Barkha valley, journey continues through several small farm villages and past nomad camps, then over Mayum-la pass at 5,050 m high.
A long descends to reach on gradual road of few hours facing views of Lake Manasrover as drive head to west side of the lake at Chu-Gompa for overnight stop near Manasrover Lake with views of Mt. Kailash.
 
Day 07:  Free morning at Lake Manasrover to observe prayer and worship and 
     short drive to Darchen 4,660 m- (55 Kms) about an hour or more rides
Free and leisure morning to enjoy walk around holy Lake of Manasrover located between Mt. Kailash 6,714 m and Mt. Gurla Mandhata range at 7,694 m. 
In Hindu belief that Lake Manasrover floats beneath a shadow of holy Mt. Kailash the lake which forms the mind of God known as Manas.  
For Hindu pilgrims can perform puja and worship taking dip in the water of sacred lake near to shore.
In Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religion, the holiest and largest lake of Asia; best time for tour around Lake Manasrover in late autumn and early spring when streams and rivers are at low level. 
Afternoon drive continues for short hour to reach Darchen a busy town with many shops-stores and lodges, Guest-House, a great place to observe local Tibetan traditional life and culture, during auspicious time Darchen flooded with Tibetan and Indian pilgrims for Kora, parikrama or holy circuit.
 
Day 08:  Drive to Tarboche start walk to Diraphuk 4,900 m (18kms) - 06 hrs.
From Darchen start morning with short ride to reach holy spot of Tarboche, a sacred place with views of Mt. Kailash West Face.
Walk begins on wide trail with slow climb to reach Dhiraphuk for overnight with small monastery and Gompa / monastery, offers great views of holy Mt. Kailash North Face. 
 
Day 09:  Trek to Zutulphuk (4,750m)- (20 kms) - 06 hrs. 
From Dhira-Phuk morning walk leads to climb up of more two hours to reach top of Dromo-la pass at 5,630m /18,525ft.
A holy spot within close to Mt. Kailash facing great majestic view of Kailash North Face on the high point of the adventure a big black rock represent goddess Dolma or Dromo (Tara) marked and blessed with thousands of colorful prayer flags. 
After a short stop long descend to Lamchu valley with nice walk to Zutul-Puk Gompa for overnight stop, either in lodge or in tented camp. 
This place named after a holy cave where poet, and saint Milereppa meditate in early 11th century, his footprints can be seen on the cave roof top.
 
Day 10:  End the walk and drive to New Dzongba 4,425 m-(315 kms) -07 hrs. 
Today last day walk of the holy parikrama and circuit or Kora, as morning takes you on nice gentle trail reaching narrow valley within a river gorge of Karnali River.
From here short walk close to Darchen, and then end the trek for long drive on completing holy walks as drive leads past Mayum-la pass base to reach at New Dzongba town for overnight stop.
 
Day 11:  Drive to Saga- (235 kms) - 05 hrs. 
From this new town of Dzongba morning ride takes you on same dusty highway and over high passes to reach at Saga town for overnight stop.
Day 12:  Drive back to Kyirong - 05 hrs.
After a great exciting time on walks around Mt. Kailash morning drive takes you back to Kyirong, where journey lead past Tibetan plateau to reach at Kyirong for last overnight stop within Tibet / China.
 
Day 13:  From Kyirong drive to Kathmandu - 06 hrs.
Depart from Tibet / China bidding farewell to our Tibetan guide and cheerful drivers and then short drive takes you across border of Nepal and Tibet / China at Rasuwa-Gandhi.
After a completing visa and passport formalities continue drive to reach at Syabrubesi village then on winding uphill to Dhunche town.
From Dhunche onward on good road to Kathmandu with scenic views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields within nice villages and towns as drive brings you back at hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu.
 
Day 14:  Depart Kathmandu for international departure homeward bound.
Last and final day in the country of great Himalayan wonders after fascinating experience on Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar Tour, as per your time for international flight Boundless Treks staff transfer you to the airport for onward journey homeward bound.
