Different Phases of Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour

Everest base camp helicopter tour with landing is a fantastic journey that entails an excellent overview of the Khumbu region inside a Helicopter. Your detailed trip description has been provided below:

Phase 1: Flight From Kathmandu to Lukla

The helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp was initiated from the airstrip in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. The flight heads eastbound, hovering over hamlets and rural settlements that scatter along the hilly region of the country.

Phase 2: Land at Lukla Airport, Refuelling, then Fly again

Lukla Airport is chosen for refueling the aircraft since the fuel carried is low for faster transfer. Tenzing Hillary Airport, or Lukla Airport, is Everest’s’ busiest airport and town, catering to trekkers and local needs. Sagarmatha National Park is entered after taking off from Lukla.

Once refueled, your chopper will fly over the narrow alleys above Dudhkoshi River, following the trekking trail to Everest Base Camp. You will observe various small Sherpa settlements scattered sparsely beneath your flight route.

Phase 3: Temporary Halt at Pheriche, Shuttle trip to Kalapathar with partial load

Your Helicopter will first land at Pheriche to drop off extra weight. From the five passengers boarded in the Heli, two passengers will be dropped off at Pheriche, and the remaining three will be taken off to Kalapathar.

Owing to the thin air at such altitudes, it is not practical for choppers to fly at such altitudes with such load. The dropped-off passengers will be accommodated in a teahouse while they wait for the remaining passengers to complete the trip. You will have a quick photography time at Kalapathar and return to Pheriche.

Phase 4: Flight of the 2nd lot of Passengers to Kalapathar

The remaining two passengers at Pheriche will then take a roundtrip journey to Kalapathar in the same chopper. It is guaranteed that all the passengers will have a window seat during the trip.

Since flying over Everest Base Camp with passengers on board is not feasible, you will have panoramic views of Everest vista from the Kalapathar peak. As the Helicopter takes the roundtrip, you will again land at Pheriche to pick up the remaining three passengers.

Phase 5: Syangboche stopover, Everest View Hotel Breakfast

From Pheriche, your heli will take you to Syangboche, an unpaved airstrip above Namche bazaar. You will then head to Everest View Hotel, one of the most famous landmarks of the Everest region. After breakfast with the panoramic views of Everest Vista, you will board your Helicopter again for your return journey.

Phase 6: Stopover at Lukla, Continue towards Kathmandu

From Syangboche, your heli will take off and head southbound towards Lukla. After refueling at the airstrip, you will continue your return by Helicopter towards Kathmandu Airport.

Note: This trip is an aerial trip on a helicopter substantially affected by the weather conditions during your travel time. Your journey will be postponed for the following day if unforeseen events occur.

Best seasons for the Helicopter Tour in Everest Region

We have several different seasons in Nepal. Please have a look at more information about the given different seasons.

Spring Season

The optimum weather for an Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is springtime. Handling the Helicopter won’t’ be difficult because the sky is clear with excellent visibility.

This excursion will be spectacular throughout March through May when temperatures range from +15 to –5 degrees Celsius. It will rain, but the moderate temperature and clear atmosphere will always be prevalent during spring.

Autumn Season

An Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is one of the best things to do from September to November. This expedition will benefit significantly from the weather. It is ideal for an Everest Base Camp helicopter tour due to the temperature range of +10 to +20 degrees Celsius and clear skies free of clouds and fog. The climate can be changed according to traveling months.

Summer Season

As spring is monsoon season, heavy rainfall in the lower areas is below 3000m. We are also arranging Everest Base camp helicopter tours during the summer season. Due to global warming, more than 3000m higher in Everest region doesn’t’ face rainfall. Similarly, due to less rainfall in the higher areas, many travelers take a helicopter tour in the summer. But, for your safety purposes, we’ll check the weather forecast before starting the tour.

The temperature will be around +20 to +25 degrees Celsius. However, amid clear weather, the magnificence of the Everest region will not fail to surprise you even during the summer season.

Winter Season

The Everest area will see shallow temperatures from November to February. During the winter season, the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour is challenging due to the western wind generating severe fog and snow, reducing visibility to virtually nil.

Therefore, carrying out this tour on a sunny, warm day is only conceivable. However, the weather in the Everest Region may change quickly.

During this season, the Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is challenging because the freezing temperatures range from -6 to -25 degrees Celsius. However, we still operate during this time.

Mount Everest tour from Kathmandu by Helicopter

The Helicopter Tour to Everest begins from the bustling city of Kathmandu and flies over several small villages along the way. Before landing in the Everest region, your flight flies across several Himalayan districts, Dolakha, Ramechhap, and Okhaldhunga.

The Nepalese Himalayan belt extends from far east to west in Nepalese territory, acting as a border to Tibet to the north. Apart from all these, there are several enigmatic views that you will savor on the Kathmandu Everest Base Camp helicopter tour. The Everest Heli experience is unmatched by other Heli trips in Nepal.

Why Should We Have Multiple Landing for Everest Mountain Flight?

We have multiple landings for the Everest Mountains flight for a few reasons. In the first stage, we take off from Kathmandu’s airport and land at Lukla to fuel the Helicopter. Second, we landed at Pheriche at 4200m due to the high elevation and for the shuttle, as the government of Nepal doesn’t allow people to carry a 450 kg load over 5000m. So this is why we have to make two flights from Pheriche and land there. Thirdly, you’ll land at Kalapathar to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Another reason for landing at breakfast after your tour. You have breakfast at an elevation of 3800m at Syangboche. Along with enjoying the view and having breakfast, you’ll land at Syangboche for 20 minutes. After breakfast, you’ll take off and land at Lukla again to refuel the Helicopter.

Altogether, you have five different landings for Everest Mountain flight for other purposes.

We don’t want our clients to face problems due to weather conditions, so we check the weather forecast before the Helicopter takes off.

For our client’s safety, we do a pre-briefing about the safety instructions before the tour. Pre-briefing of the flight helps travelers respond to the different situations at the Kathmandu airport. We have a cylinder of oxygen in our Helicopter. Also, We have a headset to stay connected and tell each other what we feel during the tour. And through the headset, the captain will let you know every range of mountains. Additionally, we are prepared for emergencies. Don’t’ fear booking an Everest base camp helicopter tour, as Boundless Adventure guarantees safety.

Kathmandu and Everest helicopter tour

It gives me immense pleasure to share this review about Boundless Adventure with the world. As its name suggests, the company impressed my family members and me. Mr. Dambar helped us when we went to Nepal.

During our Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Everest helicopter tours, Mr. Khadka’s team took great care. They kept us in the best hotel and provided a humorous guide, Mr. Kumud. I want to mention the best helicopter tour experiences around Everest.

The highlight was the breakfast at Everest View. It was so memorable. My son and I will do Manaslu Trekking with Boundless Adventure next time. I highly recommend this company for your holiday in Nepal. Thank you. Mark, UK

Landing at the highest place in the world

My friends and I (5 people) decided to view the most mysterious and highest peak on Earth: Mt. Everest, renowned as Sagarmatha in Nepal. So, to begin our tour, we booked a helicopter from Kathmandu Airport, Nepal.

Everyone shouted before leaving for our trip,” Mt. Everest, we are coming.” It took about an hour to reach Lukla. On the way to Lukla, we also had views of some hills and mountains. The helicopter landed at Lukla for some refreshments. We utilized that time by clicking some pictures to make our trip memorable. The highest altitude to land a helicopter is Kalapathar.

So, after refreshments, we flew to Kalapathar. In front of us was the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest. And this was the moment we all five friends dreamed of when we decided to go to Mt. Everest. Moreover, seeing the beautiful yet mysterious view of Mt. Everest was a dream come true. We thank Boundless Adventure and its team for making our summer cold the most memorable.

If you also seek an Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, we strongly recommend choosing Boundless Adventure. Linda and friends

On the morning of 11th Sept, we, with silent prayers and greetings to all for an auspicious Thiru Onam, boarded a helicopter from Kathmandu airport (Nepal) for a flight to see the grandeur and splendor of the mysterious and highest structure on Earth – Mount Everest and her sister peaks.
Flight ascended over the city and took the northeast direction, passing below lush green terraced paddy fields. After some time, the landscape changed, and the land became arid and untouched.
After an hour of flying, we landed in Lukla for refueling. Lukla in North East Nepal is a small town in the Khumbu region and the starting point for the Everest Base Camp trek.
After taking fuel, we lifted from Lukla, and the journey to the Everest region began. Soaring over 15000 feet altitude and flying for 45 mts, spectacular views of those famous mountains heard from our school days – Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and the mighty Mount Everest emerged before us with a million photo-shoot opportunities.
En route down below, us saw the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the high Himalayas and altitude acclimatization stop for Everest climbers. It is a lovely town, with colorful homes and shops perched on the hillside.
While flying over the remote landscapes, I cannot help but wonder how the local Sherpa survive in such a remote, harsh oxygen environment, but I know that they do. May be following age-old traditions and living an uncomplicated life. It should be genuinely life like no other.
From Lukla, we landed on Mount Kalapathar’s peak, close to Mount Everest and its sister peaks, for the closest possible views of Earth’s highest and mightiest natural structures ever unfolded. We happily recommend Boundless Adventure for the Everest base camp helicopter tour ever.
