Everest base camp trek is the highest base camp of the world. It is located at 5364m from the sea level on world heritage and UNESCO listed Sagarmatha National Park. The Everest base camp trip is 13 to 16 days hiking or trekking destination in Nepal. March, April, September, October and November are the best time to trek. But, Peoples are still trying to kill their opinion even in summer vacation.
The Mt. Everest base camp trek begins with the charming flight from the Kathmandu Airport to the Lukla Airport. The Lukla airport is already 2800m high. The trekking continues towards Phakding after your landing and overnight at Phakding. From Phakding you are heading to Namche Bazaar via Manjo and Jorshelle. It is located at 3400m altitude from sea level.
On the way to Namche, you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park check post at Jorshelle. The Namche Bazaar is the best place to explore Sherpa Culture and the first viewpoint of Mount Everest. You can explore the Sagarmatha National Park Museum, Sherpa Culture Museum, and Sir Edmund Hillary Museum.
You should have one acclimatization day, while you get at Namche Bazaar. Please do not forget to look around Everest viewpoint and Khumjung Sherpa village on this acclimatized day.
Khumjung is very beautiful village with panoramic Thamserku, Amadablam, Tabuche, Nupshe and Lotshe Shar Himalayan range including Mount Everest. Historically, here is the oldest Monastery; it was built in the 14th century. Here is a skull of Yetis, if you require, you are able to take several pictures of the skull of Yetis and monastery. Although, you have the best view of Mount Everest from Kalapathar every year around. You can spend a couple of hours to scramble with the Himalayan range and Glacier on the top of Kalapathar at best trekking season.
During the Trekking season, usually till 2 PM, the weather is clear and slowly clouds drop down to the valley in the afternoon. For clear views, January and February is not the right time to trek but less crowded. Every Lodge/ Tea houses are closed during the time due to the snowfall. From mid-March to early May is very busy on the route. It is the second best time for adventure Everest Base Camp trek after the autumn season but, a bit warmer in the spring season.
From June to August is the monsoon season here in Nepal. So, you are not recommended to trekking in Everest, even though you love to trek and hiking in the Everest region. And honestly it is not the right time for Everest trekking due to the severe problem with the weather forecast and the other hand, there is the main problem with Kathmandu- Lukla- Kathmandu flights. We suggest you better go to one of the rain-shadow area for UPPER MUSTANG TREKKING. It is the best trekking area in monsoon without any problem.
(You may want to explore the Upper Mustang Trekking Itinerary. Read the trip package)
But September, October and November are the best trekking period of the year for Everest Base Camp trek as it offers you the most beautiful and obvious weather. Although, it is the pity cold period while the Sun not come up but not too super cold like in winter. You will have to challenge with a fair amount of traffic though as the popular routes get very busy around this time and you should bring the suitable gears with you all the trekking period. We were used Dambar's services as a guide on three occasions over the last 12 years to the Annapurna and Everest regions and most recently to Upper Mustang. I would be happy to recommend him to others looking for a reliable, well organized and conscientious arranger and guide for their trek in Nepal. He gives good advice on itineraries and can plan and reserve internal flights and hotels in advance as required. He also has good knowledge of the formalities (trekking permits, insurance) that you need and has arranged these without any problems at all. On the trek, he has…View more

We came to know Dambar through a friend of ours who used him as a guide on a hike in the Annapurna Circuit about five years ago. Our friend had nothing but good things to say about Dambar's experience, professionalism and friendly personality. As it was our first time hiking in Nepal, we were happy to receive the recommendation. Prior to our travel to Nepal, we exchanged numerous emails with Dambar, making plans for our hike. Dambar provided excellent advice and answered all of our questions in a thorough and timely manner. When we had to change our hiking route…View more
