Langtang Valley trekking is exciting in the area situated on the north of Kathmandu about 90 km. The valley was supposed to be discovered by a lama (monks) following a runaway yaks according to the legend. Lang means Yak and tang means to follow. Langtang valley is described as the most beautiful valley in the world by British mountaineer Bill Tillman. It is an adventurous walk that goes through a high alpine valley, rhododendron forest that blossoms with its various colors in the spring season, pine forest, alpine flowers, swift mountain streams and craggy rock. The Langtang Lirung (7246m) is the highest peak in Langtang Valley.
This trek lies in the Langtang National Park. It is the first protected area in the Himalayas. It offers an opportunity to explore Langtang village and a Langtang glacier at the top of the village. Conservation area permit along with TIMS is necessary for the trekking. This narrow valley welcomes you with magnificent Mountain views, brightly painted chortens, flags of Buddhist prayer, and highlighted walls with Buddhist mantras. The local settlement is inhabited by ethnic community- Tamang, closely with the Tibetan traditions, culture and lifestyles. Chirikho-Ri is the best viewpoint of this trekking. Such awesome geographical landscape and nature, cultural panorama have made the trail popular for trekkers. You will frequently pass by the herds of horse and Yak. The tingling, tingling bells make a musical tune hanged on their neck. Heading through typical and unique traditional villages is superb.
